Week 5 Part B: Learning about FaceBook Data Collecting

Facebook Reach & Engagement

    • post reach, where what you post reaches out to an audience as a post in the feed, and
    • post engagement, where the viewer actually connects with the post, either by liking, sharing or commenting on it.
  1. Why are each of them important?  These are both equally important because in Social Media to big measures of a successful page is contingent upon their reach and engagement. Reach is who is seeing your content, are you reaching your "target audience.'" Where engagement is are your followers or people your are reaching engaging with your posts? This helps gauge whether or not you are posting quality, informative or relevant content.
  2. What can you learn from each? As mentioned above this could help you better gauge and adjust to see what is working and what is not when it comes to who is seeing and interacting with your content. You wouldn't want someone who absolutely hates flowers to stumble upon your flower business page, at least not for the majority of your viewers or followers.
  3. Describe how a business can use Facebook Insights to better serve their customers.
Facebook insights can serve as a toll to learn the specific things that are being measured for growth. Facebook is using this insights tool to analyze business page and help their business customers to stay informed with page health and performance.
  4. What do you think about the changes in privacy/collection of personal data? - Give me some positive and negative points. I think from a business owners stand point it's unfortunate to not have access to certain data that was available before but as a consumer it could be great for date or security breaches.
